beth-oakesKnown and respected as an international business advisor/coach, Beth Oakes is Founder and Managing Partner of The Oakes Group. She is recognized by senior leaders for her honest and straightforward style and is appreciated as someone who cares deeply about her clients and their successes.

Beth provides business advisory services to senior executives and professionals who are changing roles, who are new to their roles, and who want to maximize their strengths and career potential. To that end, she provides assessment and coaching services, career management and career transition services, including retirement services to senior leaders in Canada, the United States and internationally, in all functional areas and across a broad range of industry sectors – including financial services, private equity, technology, telecommunications, mining, media and entertainment, professional services, health care, government and retail.

In Toronto, Western Canada, and California, Beth’s career has progressed through senior roles in financial services, government, professional services and entrepreneurial organizations. Prior to founding The Oakes Group, she served as Executive Vice President in the Toronto office of DHR International Executive Search. Before joining DHR, Beth was Managing Director at Miller Dallas, one of Canada’s leading executive career management firms. Since 2010, she has worked as part of an international team providing career road mapping and coaching services to women in the media in Southern Africa.

Beth is a member of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants and is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC). Beth is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD), the Women’s Executive Network (WXN), the Advisory Board for Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100, and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She is the past Board Chair of Youth Employment Services (YES), is on the faculty of the Canadian Board Diversity Council (CBDC), is a frequent guest speaker in Canada and internationally, and her work has been published in the Globe and Mail and the journal of The Institute of Corporate Directors.

Beth holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario.

Beth was born and raised in the Toronto area. She and her husband enjoy travel, cycling and their island cottage.
